As the evening begins to dwindle and we get ready for bed, there are certain habits we try to maintain before we go to sleep.
In addition to brushing our teeth, there are a few small actions that we should try to incorporate into our nightly routine, as we were taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
A few of these actions are:
- Making Wudu: Wudu Chart Printable
- Sleeping on your right side: We should always start by laying on our right side, and can later move to another position.
- Saying the du’aa before sleeping.
Here is a visual checklist to help remind kids of these three sunnahs before sleeping, with the intention of helping make them a nightly habit.
Memorizing Tip: At first sight, the du’aa may seem long. One strategy that has worked is to read just one section/line every night. After a few days, once that part has become familiar, add another line/section. Repeat this process until you’ve reached the end of the du’aa. After hearing and repeating it many times, it will be much easier for your child or student to say it on their own, InshaAllah!
The goal is to build lifelong habits!
We recommend printing the checklist, laminating for durability, and hanging next to your child’s bed.
