Good Deed Idea for Thul-Hijjah- Day #5

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahy Wabarakatu 🤝

Today is Day #5 of Thul Hijjah!

A reminder that these days are extra special, and Good Deeds done during these days are most beloved to Allah (SWT)

💡 Good Deed Idea of the Day: 💡

Be a source of Khair (goodness) for your Parents

Parents have a very high status in Islam, and pleasing them is one of the quickest ways to earn Allah’s pleasure. We should make seeking their pleasure a priority everyday of the year, but especially during these blessed days of Thul-Hijjah, we should go the extra mile to please our parents and earn reward through serving them.

First and foremost, we need to ensure we are making duaa for our parents on a regular basis, especially this one mentioned in Suratul Isra.

If your parents are alive (an extreme blessing)- thank Allah, as there are many who wish to be in your place! Here are some suggested good deeds:

  • Visit your parents and spend quality time with them
  • Call or video chat with them- technology these days has made this very easy, Alhamdulillah!
  • Prepare a generous gift for them
  • Prepare or order their favorite meal
  • Take them out for a nice date
  • Take care of errands or tasks for them
  • Pay one or more bills they may have
  • Ask what their needs or wants are and fulfill them to the best of your ability

If your parents have returned to Allah (May Allah have mercy on them 🤲), add to their scale of good deeds through your good actions. Some suggestions:

  • Give charity on their behalf
  • Provide food for a family on their behalf
  • Check up on their friends
  • Give a gift on their behalf
  • Offer qurbani on their behalf
  • Again, duaa, duaa, duaa- make lots of duaa for them!

On a very important note, if appliable: have YOUR OWN children partake in any of the above as well, as you are modeling how they will treat YOU in the future.

May Allah make us from those who serve and care for our parents, and place a strong love for them in our hearts. May Allah make pleasing our parents a high priority in our lives. May Allah grant us the pleasure of our parents. May Allah accept from us and make us a huge source of ajer (good deeds) for our parents. May Allah bless us with offspring who will be caring, loving, and dutiful towards us🤲 🤲 🤲 🤲

Have a fantastic day 😊

Fi Amanillah

“And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (anyone) but Him and that you shall show goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them “Uff” nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. (17:23)”

“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them,” (Hadith, Muslim).

Narrated Ibn Masud: A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) “What deeds are the best?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (1) To perform the (daily compulsory) prayers at their (early) stated fixed times, (2) To be good and dutiful to one’s own parents. (3) and to participate in Jihad in Allah’s Cause.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 93 Hadith 625
